The Bitcoin (BTC) logo lit up the Berlin night sky over the weekend, adorning Germany’s tallest building with a giant orange B.

On January 21, the Bitcoin logo lit up the Berliner Fernsehturm tower, known as the TV tower. German Bitcoiners took to Twitter and social media to share photos and videos of the enlightenment, which were later shared by prominent Bitcoin Twitter accounts.
The man behind the B, a German Bitcoiner called Tilo, explained to Cointelegraph why the idea came to him:
“We just want to bring attention to bitcoin! We were fans of guerrilla actions like this and we will continue to do so.”
Tilo is CEO of an event agency that will host this year’s “Best of Blockchain” conference. He explained that the process is simple to set up light displays: what you need is a mixer, a power plant, a special Bitcoin logo, in one of the comments. Tilo had tried the process late last year, “But the projector I used was too weak,” he explained.
This isn’t the first time the Bitcoin logo or themes have been projected onto iconic buildings. In May 2021 in London, Fiat is the bubble, Bitcoin is the pin, was projected on the Bank of England.
The vigilante struck again.

Tilo had previously spread Bitcoin slogans on the iconic Berlin Wall and shared an inventory of products needed to coordinate illuminations for those willing to try it out. However, he insists that these kinds of “ads” are technically not allowed, so it’s best to tread carefully.

While the Reddit group for Bitcoiners in Germany celebrated the event with a comment string saying Noice, the subreddit for Berlin residents took a different approach. One commenter criticized the bright display as light pollution, while another hopes it [Bitcoin] never clings. They continued:
Bitcoin is limitless, moralless turbo capitalism every six months disguised under a different guise and currency.
The price per bitcoin now sits comfortably in the $20,000 range after surging since mid-teens, while network security has recently hit all-time highs. The hash rate, or the number of searches performed by Bitcoin miners per second, recently reached 300 Exahash per second.

Additionally, the number of Bitcoin users worldwide is in the millions as the developing world begins to seek out and take advantage of the decentralized and sovereign properties of Bitcoins. In the German capital, Berliners can use Bitcoin to pay for Subway sandwiches on the Lightning Network.
