How C+Charge Works

Drivers of electric vehicles will be able to use C+Charge’s currently in-development app to pay to charge their vehicles. Users will pay to charge their electric vehicles using C+Charge’s native CCHG cryptocurrency. They will then be rewarded with carbon credits in the form of Goodness Native Tokens (GNT), which will be stored in their account on the C+Charge app.

The GNT token represents a verified voluntary carbon credit and is backed by venture capital firms a16z Crypto and Samsung Next as well as fund manager Invesco. The more EV owners charge and drive and the more CCHG they spend, the more GNT they will earn.

CCHG owners also have the option of passively earning carbon credits. There is a 1% tax on all transactions that C+Charge uses to buy GNT carbon credits and then distributes them proportionally among CCHG token holders.

In addition to acting as a payment platform for electric vehicle charging and a carbon credit tracking tool, C+Charge’s app will also help users easily geolocate nearby charging stations and offer useful information such as real-time charger waiting times and technical diagnostics of charging stations.

Right now, charging electric vehicles is a notoriously complicated process compared to refueling a traditional fossil-fuel vehicle. C+Charge aims to remedy these problems. Anyone can easily use the app without having to pay any subscription fees. C+Charge aims to make its payment solution accessible to all charging stations, allowing EV drivers to directly pay EV charging station providers in a peer-to-peer way via blockchain.
