Pro-Russian Influencer Receives Bitcoin Donation From Suspected Serial Scammer

Syrian-Australian conspiracy theorist Maram Susli, known online as the Syrian Girl, has pulled out of social media after asking followers for donations and receiving $127 in bitcoins from a wallet with alleged links to many scams and Russian terrorism.

Pro-Russian Susli is a YouTuber who creates political content to support Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in Syria while condemning the United States and Israel. Syrian patriot and Sunni Muslim from Damascus, anti-neocon, anti-NWO, anti-Zionist, reads his YouTube profile.

On January 24, Susli said the Zionist lobby was attacking and defaming her. She claimed she needed A$3,300 in legal fees to write a cease-and-desist letter to the Jewish Chronicle regarding the upcoming story.

The Jewish Chronicle is the most established Jewish newspaper, founded in 1841 and based in London. It is currently unclear what content the newspaper planned to publish. Protos has reached out and will update this piece if we receive a response.

Susli shared this unverified invoice for legal fees against the Jewish Chronicle.

His tweet asking for donations shared a bitcoin wallet address and linked to a GoFundMe page. This group [is] spread lies against me. I made myself the point of the sword to bring you the truth and in doing so, I never asked for money. Unfortunately, I now have to ask for your help with the legal fees, if you can afford it.

The following day, Susli replied to her tweet stating that she preferred to receive donations through a rival crowdfunding site called GiveSendGo. The Christian platform made headlines last year when hackers leaked the entire database of all donors who have ever given money to a GiveSendGo campaign, exposing donors to controversial initiatives from crowdfunding like the Freedom Convoy in Canada.

Susli received a dodgy bitcoin donation

Susli received AUD$2,059 from 23 donors on GoFundMe and AUD$516 on GiveSendGo. It closed the campaigns after four days.

Dear Friends, Thank you for your support. Enough now for the initial procedure, Susli wrote. So far, the other side has chosen not to escalate by defaming me further and is stepping back. That means we won!!! For this reason, I will not be accepting any more donations unless they escalate further.

His bitcoin wallet received $476 in bitcoin donations while the campaigns were ongoing. A wallet frequently used by scammers with alleged ties to Russia gave him $124.

Reports of this wallet being used for scams date back to 2017. An anonymous user alleged that the original source funding wallet is funding the Russian war effort against Ukraine. In October 2021, another claimed the wallet was funding Russian terrorism in Eastern Europe.

According to Blockchain.com, the wallet suspected of being used by scammers performed 467,711 transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain. The wallet received over 135,395,677 bitcoins worth $3,123,387,371,991 and sent over 135,395,677 bitcoins worth $3,123,387,371,936. As of press time, it contains around 0.0024 bitcoin worth $55.70.

Just two days after the crowdfunding campaigns closed, Susli announced that she was taking a step back from social media “to focus on my life for a while.”

“Good luck world,” she signed off.

I’m stepping away from social media to focus on my life for a while.

Good luck world.

Susli is a staunch Kremlin supporter and anti-Western critic, but like many pro-Kremlin propagandists online, she remains coy about her funding and financial support. It has often been reported that the Kremlin pays its own influencers to spread its propaganda.

Since last year, Protos has received unconfirmed reports that the Russian government is funding pro-Russian trolls on Twitter with bitcoin.
