Uniswap is rolling out a mobile wallet, allowing users to buy crypto

Uniswap, a decentralized financial exchange (DeFi), has launched a mobile wallet that aims to encourage users to buy and trade cryptos, as well as buy NFTs.

According to the company, this effort is aimed at relieving users of the constant headaches of self-custody wallets.

Self-custody is a fundamental principle of DeFi and ensures that your crypto cannot be misused by a centralized party. We are therefore proud to offer you a self-service wallet that is simple, secure and easy to use, the company noted in its blog.

Through the wallet, users can trade tokens, switch between Mainnet, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism, as well as the ability to favorite tokens and wallet addresses to track trends or ongoing activity.

The mobile wallet also gives users the option to manually save their seed phrase to iCloud or to be notified when transactions are complete via app push notifications.

Early access, but still in progress

Currently, Uniswap offers users the ability to get early access to the app. But those looking to access it through the Apple App Store may have to wait a bit longer.

Apple approved our first version in October, but rejected the final version just days before our December launch. Since then, we have addressed their concerns, answered all questions, and reaffirmed that we are 100% in compliance with their guidelines. Other self-custody exchange wallets have been approved, but Apple won’t greenlight our launch and we don’t know why. We are stuck in limbo, Uniswap noted in its blog.

The company also noted that it is continually working on new developments as it continues to streamline the app and receive feedback from its thousands of Testflight users.

Mobile Wallet Adoption

Deploying a mobile wallet to streamline the process is a good next step for Uniswap, not only eliminating any possible confusion users may encounter when buying and trading crypto, but also giving them a easy access.

As with anything crypto, there are hurdles to overcome, including the recent ones the company faced with Apple. But regulation and compliance are necessary and will continue to be a priority with any potential reiteration Uniswap may have of its new mobile wallet.
