Lido and Rocket Pool allow you to stake Ethereum specifically through your MetaMask wallet. Let’s start with how to stake ETH on Lido.
1. Staking with MetaMask via Lido
Lido is a popular staking platform that has been around since 2020. This platform allows you to stake various cryptos including Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon. But here we will see how to implement Ethereum on these platforms using MetaMask.
Lido offers an APR of 5.1% to those who use its Ethereum liquid staking feature and also has the leading Ethereum staking pool in the market. Liquid staking allows you to make a profit on your crypto funds without locking them in for a set period of time, which is a much more attractive option for many.
Lido is a well-known platform for staking Ethereum and has facilitated the staking of over six million ETH. So how do you start staking with Lido?
To stake crypto with MetaMask via Lido, you must first connect your wallet. Visit the Lido staking page to connect your MetaMask wallet. When you view the list of wallets, you will see MetaMask at the very top. Click on it and your MetaMask extension will automatically open, asking you to confirm the connection. Once you have done this, you will be redirected to the Lido staking page, where you need to enter the amount of Ethereum you wish to stake on the Lido from your MetaMask wallet.
Now you can submit your wagered amount and start earning rewards.
2. Implementation with MetaMask via Rocket Pool
RocketPool is another popular staking program that was launched in 2016. Hundreds of thousands of ETH have been staked through this platform, making it one of the best options available today.
RocketPool offers an APR of 5.09% for staking alone and an APR of 7.01% for those who want to stake and manage an Ethereum node.
To stake Ethereum on RocketPool, you must first go to the RocketPool staking page and enter the amount you wish to stake. Then go ahead and connect your MetaMask wallet. Select the MetaMask option from the list provided and allow the login request on the browser extension. Once the connection is confirmed, you can submit your stake via RocketPool.
If staking platforms aren’t your thing, you can also use MetaMask to stake via hardware wallets, such as Ledger. For example, you can stake Polygon (MATIC) using Ledger through MetaMask. Here’s how.
First, you need to connect your Ledger wallet to MetaMask (assuming you have already connected your Ledger wallet to Ledger Live). You can do this by clicking on the Connect Hardware Wallet option. Next, choose the hardware wallet you want to connect (in this case, click on Ledger). Next, you will need to connect your Ledger wallet to the device you are using via USB. Once your Ledger wallet has been successfully connected to your device, select the address of the wallet you wish to unlock from the drop-down list provided, then you will be ready to start staking. Now head to the Polygon Web Wallet app and click on the Connect to Wallet option at the top right of the screen. When the options window appears, click on MetaMask, then authorize the connection of your Ledger address in your MetaMask extension. Next, head to the Polygon Stakeout section. Because Polygon uses the Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, you can choose which validator you want to delegate your funds to for staking. To stake, you will need to login to Polygon and confirm that you want to stake via MetaMask. Next, choose the validator you want to choose from the list provided. Your connected Ledger wallet will also ask you to confirm your staking transaction. To do this, scroll through the list of charges displayed on the Ledger Wallet screen and then approve.
Now you can confirm your staking delegation through your Ledger device and the MetaMask extension.
As one of the biggest crypto wallets in gaming today, MetaMask is a great option for crypto staking. So if you want to stake, be it a software or hardware wallet, consider using MetaMask.
