Shiba Inu burns 1.6 billion tokens as Ape Brigade enters the crypto scene with a bang

Popularly labeled Dogecoin Killer, Shiba Inu (SHIB) recently burned 1.6 billion tokens, a move that is used by many cryptocurrencies to ensure they have optimal supply in the market. The burn event update comes just as Shiba Inu managed to reach a price peak of $0.00001.

According to recent data, the circulating supply of SHIBs is approximately 574.1 trillion tokens. The current 1.6 billion burn event pegs the total number of tokens released to date at 410.6 trillion tokens. Created in 2020, Shiba Inu is the second largest cryptocurrency according to CoinMarketCap, behind Dogecoin (DOGE) with a market capitalization of $5.1 billion.

Token burns are often seen as an appropriate way to bolster the price of a cryptocurrency, but SHIB lead developer Shytoshi Kushama thinks differently on the matter. In response to a comment on Telegram, Kushama said the price of Shiba Inu cannot be influenced by burns alone and went on to say that new technologies need to be developed to solidify the token’s dominance.

The final version of Shibariums is not yet online

Shiba Inu is constantly innovating its platform to keep up with the changing crypto market. The Shibarium token update implemented in March via a beta release will shift its offering platform from a single cryptocurrency to a decentralized ecosystem hosting a crypto exchange, metaverse, and blockchain-based games like Shiba Eternity, for example.

Shibarium also contains a layer 2 blockchain solution, which was developed to improve on Ethereum’s current limitations, slower transactions, and higher gas fees. To help push these changes forward, Shiba Inu has created a new token to distribute to stakeholders called BONE. There is a supply of 250 million BONE tokens which is used by the SHIB community to vote on important governance issues and any proposed changes.

Although the Shibarium update has yet to be implemented as a final version, the constant system updates and Shiba Inus’ place on the top 50 cryptocurrency list promise a bright future for meme coin investors.
