Major Crypto Assets Plunge to Record Trading Volume Amid Oddly Mixed Sentiment
According to a report by intelligence portal Santiment, major digital assets such as XRP, BTC or Cardano (ADA) are experiencing their lowest combined transaction volume in over a year. This decline in trading activity is particularly noticeable among altcoins, which have seen a significant drop in trading volume.
The report points out that even when looking only at Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) trading volumes, the numbers are the second lowest since September 2019. Declining trading volumes indicate a lack of investor participation and enthusiasm on the market.

A notable trend mentioned in the report is the drying up of trading volumes since the start of the price rise in March. While the crypto market has seen a surge in prices during this period, trading volumes have not kept pace, raising concerns among market participants. It seems that the market was prepared as early as April for the age-old adage “sell in May and walk away”.
The decline in trading volume may have several implications for the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Low trading volumes suggest reduced liquidity and increased price volatility, making it difficult for traders to easily enter and exit positions. Also, it may indicate a lack of confidence among investors as they refrain from actively participating in the market.
