Dogecoin records 2 million transactions surpassing Bitcoin and Ethereum in 24 hours – Cryptopolitan

Dogecoin has seen an unexpected surge in trading activity, with analysts and investors scrambling for explanations. After the introduction of DRC20 tokens, the digital currency experienced a meteoric leap in its daily transactions, shaking the foundations of the crypto world.

On May 27, 2023, this blockchain outsider surpassed all previous records, with an astonishing over 2 million transactions in 24 hours. This significant increase in activity dwarfs those of crypto giants Bitcoin and Ethereum, 400,000-532,000 and one million transactions, respectively. Rising Dogecoin hashrate: a harbinger?

In addition to the robust transaction activity, the Dogecoin network also saw a noticeable increase in its hashrate. However, this critical measure of a blockchain’s health and security has climbed more than 38% since early May, indicating burgeoning network strength.

As of May 9, the Scrypt hashrate dedicated to Dogecoin was 638 terahash per second (TH/s). Yet, just three weeks later, it reached an impressive 885 TH/san, an impressive testament to the growing influence and resilience of Dogecoins.

This striking increase in hashrate can be partly attributed to the compatibility of Dogecoins merge mining with Litecoin. This allows miners to secure both networks simultaneously, potentially increasing miner participation and, therefore, hashrate.
