Gate.io Defies Crypto Rumors of Imminent Bankruptcy Amid Multi-Chain Dilemma

[ad_1]

Crypto enthusiasts and traders have been abuzz lately after rumors that crypto exchange Gate.io could be facing imminent bankruptcy. Speculation had centered on the struggling multi-chain protocol Multichain and the actions taken by crypto exchanges in response to the technical difficulties of the protocols. Gate.io denied the rumors on Twitter and warned against legal action against those who spread baseless allegations.

Link between Gate.io and Multichain after large influx of multichain tokens

Gate.io is a centralized crypto exchange founded in 2013. It has expanded to Hong Kong, Turkey, and Dubai. Since May 24, Gate.io has been linked to Multichain after large influxes of Multichain tokens were reported. Investors became concerned when the Multichain team later revealed that they were unable to contact the CEO and access servers to resolve the issue. Additionally, the circumstances have sparked speculation that Chinese authorities have shut down protocol leadership and seized over $1.5 billion in smart contract funds.

Binance suspended deposits of 10 tokens on multiple networks after learning about the Gate.io and Multichain connection. This downtime also led to the Fantom Foundation withdrawing 449,740 MULTI ($2.4 million) of liquidity on the decentralized exchange SushiSwap.

Crypto Exchange Denies Link to Multi-Channel Issues, Promises User Campaigns

GateToken (GT) fell around 9.6% in the past week, according to data from CoinGecko at the time of writing. The Gate.io spokesperson denied any connection to the ongoing debacle and promised upcoming user campaigns for the platform’s anniversary. The cryptoexchange denies connection rumors to multi-chain issues, ensures unaffected operations, and prioritizes the anniversary celebration and platform launch.

Gate.io plans to take legal action against individuals who have caused panic among investors, breaking laws and causing significant losses. Lookonchain, an analytics firm, has released an updated view of assets held on Gate.io’s platform to demonstrate liquidity. According to the data, six separate wallets hold a total of $1.44 billion in assets – including 97 million GateTokens ($434 million); 149,648 ETH ($279M); 182 million USDT; 2,612 BTC ($70M); and SHIB 6T ($52 million).

However, only time will tell if Gate.io and Multichain can effectively manage the crisis to protect investors and maintain operations. The exchange is taking steps to protect its interests and investors by distancing itself from the issue.
