It makes no sense to tether crypto users to desktops, says Zerion at mobile wallet launch

[ad_1]

Why go mobile first when crypto is such a desktop-centric industry?

Well, it’s easier, Zerions Alexander Guy told Decrypt.

Basically, we thought it was a good opportunity to try there because the competition was pretty low, he said in an interview with NFC Lisbon this year.

Zerion, a Web3 portfolio and portfolio management solution, had already built a working portfolio tracker, and after that, it kind of integrated it into the wallet from then on.

The project started life as a DeFi portfolio tracker integrated with ten different blockchains, providing access to most major decentralized exchanges (DEXs). It then added NFT support on these channels in mid-2021, allowing users to track their non-fungibles.

The launch of the mobile crypto wallet last year was also out of security and, of course, usability considerations too.

But the other reason is that mobile wallets were really vulnerable. I don’t know anyone who really likes using their mobile wallet, Guy said. And with Web3 in general becoming a more diverse ecosystem, people want to do things on the go, it doesn’t make sense to have people in front of their computers doing anything or not missing an airdrop .

The Zerions smart wallet was released first on mobile (iOS and Android) and was aimed not so much at casual users as at day-to-day users of Web3 decentralized applications (dApps), which interact with blockchains in different ways, from DeFi and investment to collection and games.

We wanted to create a wallet specifically for a group of people we call “web3 citizens”, he said. Considering the timing, it was sort of during the early days of the bear market, we launched our portfolio.

In other words, Zerion is for users already deep into blockchain technology.

Can Zerion dethrone Metamask?

Guy also took aim at the painful user experience of Metamasks and said that often what I feel is a lack of control.

This prompted Zerion to create a product that makes user experience and user control quite exceptional.

Giving an example, he talked about the experience of having multiple wallets committed, going to a dApp and all of a sudden they all start trying to open and pull at the same time, jostling for position .

Zerions workaround allows users to set default wallets for their dApps permanently or day-to-day.

Decrypt also asked Guy how Zerion hopes to soften Metamasks’ position as the number one wallet for decentralized finance.

What we were missing was the browser extension, right? he said. And it’s actually in open beta. We announced it on Monday [June 5]In fact.

The onboarding process was relatively exclusive, with only a few select communities added along with whitelist addresses for specific NFT holders.
