A European investment firm founded by billionaire Christian Angermayer and backed by Mike Novogratz of Galaxy Digital is looking to invest around $ 100 million in crypto-venture funds over the next two years.
Cryptology Asset Group will take an entrepreneurial approach to building its fund portfolio and will pay close attention to crypto funds for the first time, emerging managers and seed funds, according to a press release released Thursday.
The company will invest globally, taking stakes in blockchain and crypto-related companies, according to Angermayer, a financial technology and crypto entrepreneur. Novogratz invested in the company when it was launched, although it was not involved in the new fundraising effort.
Specifically, Cryptology will offer retail and institutional clients liquid stocks, such as its offering of indirect exposure to Block.one’s new Bullish crypto exchange.
“Our vision is to work closely with our portfolio funds, providing them with access to our vast network and extensive experience, as well as to co-invest alongside them in innovative blockchain companies and crypto assets,” said Patrick Lowry, CEO of Cryptology. “There is no better asset class to bet on than crypto.
The company is listed on several German stock exchanges under the symbol CAP: GR and has grown by 273% in the past year. Cryptology’s latest engagement marks another case of professional investor interest in the crypto space.
Over the past three years, Cryptology has increased its invested capital from 27 million (US $ 32.9 million) to 450 million (US $ 543 million).
CORRECTION (Jun 4, 2021, 22:33 UTC): Corrected to clarify that Mike Novogratz did not find the cryptology.
