Interactive Brokers Group Inc (IBKR.O) plans to start offering cryptocurrency exchanges through its brokerage firm within a few months, the company’s president said on Wednesday.

“Customers are asking for it and we hope to be ready to deliver it to them by the end of the summer,” Thomas Peterffy, founder and president of Interactive Brokers, told a conference hosted by Piper Sandler.

Peterffy did not specify which cryptocurrencies would be available for trading, but the New York-based brokerage started offering bitcoin futures in December 2017.

The biggest obstacle to offering crypto trading has been making sure that Interactive Brokers can protect their clients’ digital coins, Peterffy added.

“Think about it, how do you make 100% sure that no one is going to steal their parts despite being nowhere to be found,” he said.
