Crowdfunding in cryptocurrency has gained ground in recent years, driven by regulatory factors as well as a changing landscape of investors. As the ICO boom neared its end in early 2018, entrepreneurs began to look for other ways to sell tokens to fund their development activities. The supply of security tokens has failed to gain traction, given the lack of regulatory uncertainty regarding trading in secondary markets. However, the Initial Exchange Offer (IEO) launched by Binance has become increasingly popular in 2019. The Initial IDO or DEX Offer is the next iteration. Token issuers use launch platforms to reach out of the box marketplaces of decentralized exchange users. For their part, IDO participants are keen to buy tokens from the most promising projects while they are still available at the lowest prices.
Crypto financial analyst Luis Aureliano has accumulated over 15 years of experience in macroeconomics and believes that the IDO offers many opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs; however, he also urges caution.
After several previous iterations, IDO has become the de facto token offering mechanism, providing projects with a path to token liquidity. IDO tokens also provide a great way for investors to get started in the field of a project. However, IDO tokens can have a high risk / reward ratio, so they are not necessarily suitable for beginner or occasional traders.
He also advises that: Buying IDO tokens is not a passive activity, it involves significant research to find the most promising projects.
Part of this research is knowing where to look for IDO listings, as there is currently no reliable service that aggregates or rates IDO platforms. Therefore, Luis Aureliano recommends these seven platforms where entrepreneurs and token buyers come together to create markets for new tokens.

1. Lemonade on Jigstack
Lemonade is the launch pad for the Jigstack platform tokens, which aims to bring a standard set of tools and a greatly simplified user experience to decentralized finance users. On Lemonade, anyone can set up a token offering in minutes using the web interface without any knowledge of programming or smart contract logic.
The story continues
Lemonade was launched in April with the first token sale of the Jigstack STAK governance token, which entitles holders to a share of the fees earned from token sales on the Lemonade launch pad. Later in June, Lemonade will also host a DePo IDO, a multi-market aggregator and an institutional grade trading terminal for crypto.
2. SuperStarter on SuperFarm
SuperFarm is a suite of NFT tools and applications aimed at creating an open and accessible market. In April, the project announced the launch of SuperStarter, the native launch pad for the SuperFarm platform. SuperStarter is the pioneer of a decentralized project approval process, where experts in fundamental crypto analysis vote to approve projects that go to the launch pad to perform their IDO. Token sales are open to holders of SuperFarms native SUPER tokens, which is an incentive for them to keep it for those who wish to take advantage of the platform’s strict verification process.
Veteran, the Ethereum project backed by ConsenSys Virtue Poker is a project that has already engaged in a token sale on SuperStarter, offering a small portion of its VPP tokens to SUPER holders.
3. TRONPad
TRONPad was announced in May, the result of a collaboration between Binance Smart Chain-based IDO platform BSCPad and TRON. TRONPad will act as an IDO forum for TRON blockchain companies, building on an ideology and mechanics of BSCPad. IDO tokens are distributed based on the value of the staked tokens, which are grouped according to threshold levels to determine their allocation.
The TRONPads IDO is the first to take place on the platform and has attracted 13,000 token buyers within a 48 hour window. At the time of writing, TRONPad is also inviting projects to enter a competition to earn a spot on the launch pad.
4. PolkaStarter
Polkastarter is a cross-chain DEX for token pools and auctions, which projects can use for decentralized crowdfunding. Thanks to Polkadot’s interoperability, the platform integrates with assets issued by Ethereum and Polkadot while providing fast and low-cost processing. Native POLS token holders can wager in order to gain preferential access to particular token pools. The protocol also rewards providers of POLS token liquidity.
Polkastarter has provided a launching pad for many, many projects. Among them are the NFT Ethernity platform, the Convergence and SuperFarm asset tokenization protocol. The platform could see a sudden influx of projects once the Polkadot ecosystem kicks off in earnest later this year, when parachaines go live.
5. DAO Pad by DAO Maker
DAO Maker presents itself as venture capital recreated for the masses. It uses the concept of social mining to incubate communities around projects, as well as to raise funds by selling tokens on the platform. The general idea is to generate positive feelings such that the token doesn’t end up suffering the fate of so many people thrown to the point of oblivion. Social mining allows companies to categorize token holders so that those who provide the most support can be engaged as active community builders.
DAO Pad has hosted token sales including the Formation Finance cross-chain risk parity protocol, OpenOcean liquidity aggregator, and Huobi Eco Chain DEX MakiSwap.
6. BSC buffer
BSCPad is the main launching pad for the Binance Smart Chain platform. It was designed as a way to ensure that new projects entering the BSC ecosystem are trustworthy, thus protecting investors from scams. Projects are selected by a group of developers, business analysts, business leaders and digital marketing experts.
BSCPad has hosted dozens of token launches, including for the quantum-resistant blockchain QAN platform, the Cook Protocol cross-chain asset management platform, and the Smoothy Finance stablecoin exchange protocol. Although a small number of tokens may be available to the general public, serious buyers must own and stake the BSCPAD token for any chance of winning a substantial share of the sell tokens.
7. Ignition on PAID network
PAID Network aims to become the first borderless DeFi system powered by the Polkadot blockchain. The project’s launch arm, called Ignition, opened in January, allowing token issuers to offer public and private auctions to participants. The project was incubated by Master Ventures and, with PAID Network, Ignition started as part of a network of 65,000 people. Currently it supports ERC20 tokens but will also provide multi-channel support through Polkadot.
Ignition on PAID has launched token sales for decentralized insurance aggregator Shield Finance and Shopify for the NFT project NFTify, among others. It will also soon launch the native token for the cross-chain investment platform, Moma.
