Crypto will not have sex

As many visionary female leaders enter the crypto industry, it looks like the boys’ crypto club is finally opening up. Women are not only active investors, project founders and developers, but they are also making revolutionary changes in blockchain and related industries such as DeFi, NFT, and digital currencies.

2020 saw a 43% increase in the number of women working in crypto, and currently they make up 26% of crypto holders in the United States. Of all the people who want to learn more about cryptocurrency, 53% are female. This indicates that the ratio of women in crypto and related industries will see a dramatic increase in the years to come.

Several new grant funding initiatives are proposed to boost the participation of women in the blockchain industry, and educational initiatives are also proposed to encourage women.

Crypto as a vehicle for financial independence

Many women use cryptocurrencies to gain more control over their finances. Thanks to their anonymous nature, cryptocurrencies can be a way for women to escape bad relationships in which the partner has gained full financial control.

Women are also becoming savvy crypto investors. In India, where previously around 12-15% of crypto exchange customers were female, that number has grown to over 20% in 2021.

The Wall Street Journal reports that one in four clients trading cryptos on the Robinhood app is female, and the digital trading platform eToro Group has drawn similar conclusions, reporting that since 2019, female participation in trading on the platform doubled to 20%.

Women have different investing habits than men. “In general, women are long-term investors, less impulsive, and tend to hold their positions, which is why they are over-indexed to bitcoin,” said eToro director Guy Hirsch, explaining why more women held and, while men tended to hold and Tron.

Decentralization driven by women

Catherine Coley, CEO, Binance.US:

“It’s time to wake up and seize our generation’s greatest opportunity for women. The muscle required was nothing more than a mouse click and the ability to connect the dots, take risks, and go. If these are the conditions for playing a very active role in the future of our economy, then ladies, the playing field has never been so level. We have a unique opportunity to define a new era of financial markets and to effect these changes faster than our predecessors. “

Taynaah Reis, CEO of Coin:

Moeda is a microcredit platform that uses blockchain and a cryptocurrency called MDA to connect investors to unbanked populations in emerging countries. They focus on cooperatives in Brazil, especially women-owned businesses, offering interest rates of 15%.

“Over the years, I’ve seen investors view social enterprises in Brazil as a risk,” says Reis, “Trust is important, especially in a country like Brazil, and blockchain allows us to maintain that trust.

Carylyne Chan, Outgoing CEO / Chief Strategy Officer, CoinMarketCap:
