The Sichuan branch of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Sichuan Energy Bureau issued an order on Friday to suppress crypto mining operations in the province, according to an opinion obtained and verified by CoinDesk.
Sichuan, arguably the largest hydropower-based cryptocurrency mining center in China, is joining the ranks of Chinese provinces cracking down on bitcoin mining. A number of provinces have recently cracked down on mining operations within their borders. Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and Yunnan have already announced crackdowns or partial industry bans.
Municipal governments, municipal governments and energy suppliers, including the State Grid Corporation of China, in Sichuan, will lead the crackdown. Local authorities plan to shut down 26 companies that have been identified as potential crypto mining companies by the State Grid.
The companies are located in 15 hydropower-rich counties in five cities and regions in Sichuan province and will be closed by June 20, according to the notice.
In the meantime, municipal and municipal governments will immediately carry out an inspection. Any business that turns out to be a crypto mining project during the inspection will be shut down. Local governments are required to report updates on the process to the NDRC by June 25.

The news came after local Chinese media reported that miners in Yaan in Sichuan province received a notice requiring them to stop mining operations for a self-inspection on Thursday evening. The miners were awaiting an official notice on Friday.

Companies are expected to enforce the government-issued crackdown without any discount and report their inspection results to the NDRC by June 25.
3. Complete cleaning and inspection
