Venture capital funds invested an annual record in the crypto market, already eclipsing more than $ 17 billion in 2021.
According to market data company PitchBook, the companies have been extremely active in terms of investing in the crypto market.
2021 has already seen around $ 17 billion invested. While the previous annual record saw 2018 bring in a total of $ 7.4 billion. 2021 has basically succeeded in bringing down the combined investment amount of all previous years combined from 2010.
Crypto offers in 2021
The biggest deal in 2021 alone saw Block. One’s $ 10 billion invested in the Bullish Global crypto exchange. The exchange also raised an additional $ 300 million in a fundraising round.
The single deal single-handedly broke the crypto investment record for the year.
$ 380 million invested in crypto wallet firm Ledger allows the company to make the second largest investment in 2021. The investment comes from 10T Holdings, which operates as a mid-to-advanced growth equity fund that invests in private companies operating in the digital asset ecosystem.
I’m of the opinion that everyone will own the crypto, it’s just a matter of the price, said Ian Rogers, director of experience at Ledgers. We were still in the protocol phase, we know there is something here, you can’t imagine what it will look like exactly. For Ledger, we certainly weren’t selling an iPod at the target time yet.
Other notable crypto investments include $ 350 million invested in BlockFi and Dapper Labs, $ 300 million invested in Paxos and Blockchain.com.
The thirst for crypto exposure continues
2021 has seen accelerated interest in the crypto space as companies seek exposure to the market. Andreessen Horowitz previously announced that he would look to launch a billion dollar crypto investment fund following the huge success of his investment in Coinbase.
Galaxy Digital also took steps earlier this year to acquire BitGo, an independent provider of digital asset infrastructure. The acquisition is estimated at $ 1.2 billion. Additionally, Goldman Sachs recently announced its partnership with Galaxy Digital to offer bitcoin futures through the company and its latest acquisition.
