Bitcoin (BTC) is at the head of a huge stack of liquidations recorded on Bybt. At the time of going to press, the trading information platform recorded well over $ 1 billion liquidated in 24 hours on the exchanges.

More than $ 96 million in liquidations have taken place in the past hour. BTC accounted for more than half of the liquidations over the entire 24-hour period, amounting to $ 627.67 million at the time of going to press. Additionally, the largest liquidation order of this period, occurring on Huobi-EOS, was valued at $ 6.48 million.

BTC sellouts have taken other market leaders by storm, with Ethereum coming in second. A relatively small value of $ 267 million was liquidated within 24 hours. Ripple was a little behind, accounting for an additional $ 44 million liquidated.

Data shows that almost 39% of liquidations made in the past 24 hours (totaling almost $ 428 million) took place on the Bybit trading platform. Okex accounted for an additional 20.3% and Huobi an additional 17.6%.

Busy month for BTC

This massive sell-off follows a bad week for BTC, in which it retreated to last month’s lows, near the $ 30,000 mark. Currently, bitcoin is valued at $ 32,200, according to CoinGecko. Since its abrupt price collapse in May, attributed to a number of factors, BTC has struggled to regain anything approaching the highs it reached in April.

The fact that the BTC mining hash rate hit its lowest position in six months, as reported on June 20, didn’t help matters. This follows the Chinese government’s strict and continued crackdown on BTC mining, which has seen a massive shutdown of the country’s operations. China was previously home to around 75% of the world’s BTC mining capacity.

In light of the Chinese crackdown, BTC miners have started moving their operations overseas to the United States, in particular. Low electricity prices have lured miners to Texas, a state that also has a pro-crypto government. Earlier this month, Governor Greg Abbott approved a law creating a legal framework for cryptocurrency investments.

Meanwhile, Francis Suarez, mayor of Miami, Florida, recently pointed out that he would welcome minors from China. He noted that Miami is ideal for energy-intensive mining operations, given its cheap nuclear power.
