Bitcoin and Ethereum Mining Company Hive Blockchain (HVBT) are now trading on the Nasdaq

Vancouver-based Bitcoin and Ethereum mining company Hive Blockchain Technologies will begin trading today on the Nasdaq Capital Markets Exchange under the ticker symbol HVBT.

The company said it will retain its listing on the TSX Venture Exchange, where it trades under HIVE.

Hive, which went public in 2017, calls itself the “first cryptocurrency mining company with a green energy and ESG strategy.” The company’s data centers, based in Canada, Sweden and Iceland, have access to approximately 50 megawatts of electricity.

The company’s stock price on the TSX had fallen in recent months as a sweeping ban on mining and trading in cryptocurrencies caused widespread disruption. But it has risen 21.6% in the past five days, as it became clear that closures by its Chinese competitors would create opportunities in the market.

According to its Canadian competitor Bitfarms, the impact of Hive’s listing on the Nasdaq will be immediate. Bitfarms, which owns five cryptocurrency mining facilities in Quebec, has access to 69 megawatts of electricity. It trades on the Nasdaq under BITF.

Company Chairman Geoff Morphy told Crypto Investor that the company has experienced “improved access to capital, global trade, and considerable media and financial coverage” since it began trading on the Nasdaq on 21st of June.
