Tennessee City Wants To Accept Bitcoin Property Tax Payments

[ad_1]

The US town of Jackson, Tennessee continues to explore a potential cryptocurrency dive, now seeking to accept Bitcoin (BTC) for the payment of property tax.

Jackson Mayor Scott Conger announced Thursday evening that the city’s blockchain task force has launched a study into potential methods of accepting Bitcoin property tax payments in the city.

The blockchain group will also explore how to enable employees to cost the average Bitcoin in dollars or buy smaller amounts of Bitcoin at regular intervals. Purchases of Bitcoin on average at dollar cost are considered the best strategy for accumulating Bitcoin, several studies have confirmed.

Conger took to Twitter earlier to detonate ongoing inflation and the devaluation of the US dollar, arguing that Bitcoin is the only solution to this problem.

Why do we accept inflation? Why are we not demanding more of our federal government? 6.3% in 2 years. 172.8% in my lifetime. Each year our dollar is worth less. There is no rebound. There is only one fix for this .. #Bitcoin

The latest announcement brings an update to Jackson’s broader crypto plans announced by Conger in April. The city has actively explored options for paying city employees in cryptocurrency, embracing Bitcoin mining operations and adding BTC to the city’s balance sheet. Conger previously hinted that the city may also look to allow payments in several other digital coins like Ether (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC).

As previously reported, Mayor Conger has followed in the footsteps of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who pushed the city of Miami to adopt paying taxes and wages in Bitcoin. Conger is also known to have embraced laser eyes, part of the crypto communities’ flash mob that supports the potential rise in Bitcoin prices up to $ 100,000. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $ 31,732, down 2.5% in the past 24 hours, according to data from CoinGecko.
