SoftBank to invest $ 75 million in Crypto Exchange Bullish

[ad_1]

SoftBank has recently made huge investments in the crypto space. For example, she invested $ 200 million in a Brazilian company Mercado Brazil.

SB Northstar, an investment unit of Japanese firm SoftBank, has agreed to invest $ 75 million in the Block.ones cryptocurrency exchange, Bullish. The filing made with the SEC on July 9, 2021 showed that SoftBank will purchase $ 7.5 million of stock units at $ 10 each.

The Tokyo-based company previously invested $ 300 million in a private offering as a sign of commitment. Currently, Bullish has a market valuation of $ 9 billion and is expected to be the subject of a SPAC merger with Far Peak Acquisitions. The merger is planned before the end of 2021.

Following the merger, Paypal co-founder and former New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) president Thomas Farley will become CEO of Bullish. Block.one CEO Brendan Blumer will serve as chairman.

In addition, SB Northstar LP will purchase 3 million warrants to purchase Far Peak shares when Bullish goes public. Warrants will be obtained from sponsors of SPAC or its main investors below normal cost. This will result in a loss of $ 1.5 million. According to James Cassel, president of Cassel Salpeter & Co., this is done by the SAVS to attract high-level investors.

As of this writing, Bullish had yet to identify Sb Northstar as one of the buyers in any of its press releases.

While some critics have criticized the company’s decision to go public so soon, others suggest the move will increase the value of the Block.one blockchain. Another group led by Sam Bankman-Fried believes the move will see Bullish become like MicroStrategy for cryptocurrencies.
