Jackson, the mayor of Tennessee is a fan of Bitcoin, he wonders why we accept inflation
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez isn’t the only bitcoin trying to get bitcoin companies and technological innovations to reside in his city. Jackson, the mayor of Tennessee is also a bitcoin fan and Scott Conger is the third member of his family to be the mayor of Jackson.
Conger noticed that inflation was slowly rising after the federal government and the central bank created massive amounts of stimulus over the past 18 months. In Conger’s opinion, bitcoin is the only solution to this problem. Three days ago, Conger tweeted:
Why do we accept inflation? Why are we not demanding more from our federal government 6.3% in 2 years? 172.8% in my lifetime. Each year our dollar is worth less. There is no rebound. There is only one fix for this… Bitcoin.
Scott Conger: “Let’s not accept any inflation”
In a recent interview, Conger said he was monitoring Miami Mayor Suarez and believed bitcoin could benefit Jackson. Bitcoin is great for remote workers who take advantage of the city of Jackson and could give the city of Tennessee an edge. In another interview, Conger mentioned inflation again and started looking at things priced in satoshis (the smallest denomination of bitcoin).
“It really hit the house once we pointed out the dollar price of lumber… massive inflation over the dollar price. [satoshis]“, Detailed Conger. Conger is also known to have said:
Do not accept inflation and the growing carbon footprint.
Conger has also launched a task force dedicated to studying the benefits of blockchain and how payments with bitcoin can help strengthen Jackson. “Our blockchain task force is examining how the city of Jackson TN can accept bitcoin property tax payments and enable our DCA employees in bitcoin,” Conger tweeted Thursday.
Earlier this year, Eric Adams also joined Conger and Suarez as a candidate for mayor of New York (NYC) who wants New York to be a bitcoin hub and “the center of all technology” as well. Before Eric Adams, another candidate for mayor of New York, Andrew Yang, also promoted bitcoin during his campaign in February. As for Jackson, Tennessee and Conger, he follows in Suarez’s footsteps.
“I’m taking advice from Francis Suarez,” Conger tweeted. “In the coming weeks, I will be forming a Blockchain Task Force to explore how best to position the city of Jackson TN for the future,” Jackson Mayor added.
