Ethereum co-founder quits crypto because he fears for its security

One of the co-founders of Ethereums has announced that he is leaving the crypto world in part because he fears for its safety.

According to Bloomberg, Anthony Di Iorio has had a security team for the past four years, which means someone travels with him wherever he goes. The 48-year-old told the media:

His risk profile does not excite me too much. I don’t necessarily feel safe in this space. If I focused on bigger issues I think I would be safer.

Di Iorio founded Canadian software development company Decentral, but is now considering selling it. He estimates it could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, but is considering selling it in cash or stocks rather than crypto.

Explaining that he will not participate in the funding of other blockchain projects, Di Iorio added:

I want to branch out so that I’m not a crypto guy, but a guy who tackles complex issues.

And in a remark that could be seen as a blow to the digital asset sector, he described crypto as a small percentage of what the world needs.

Disillusioned?

Di Iorio was one of eight people who co-founded Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin being perhaps the best known.

A growing number of entrepreneurs and developers involved in the early days of crypto ended up taking a step back.

Dogecoin co-creator Jackson Palmer was one of them and last week he wrote on Twitter that he has no plans to return to the crypto space at all.

He described the industry as centralized, right-wing, and controlled by a small number of wealthy people who sold a false promise that retail investors will one day get richer on digital assets.
