“Welcome Home”, a film by Dana Crypto makes waves on the film festival circuit | New

GRAFTON, Vermont, July 21, 2021 / PRNewswire-PRWeb / – The film industry, including film festivals, is fiercely competitive. The average acceptance rate for most film festivals is less than 10%. Major festivals such as Cannes and Sundance will receive several thousand entries and only invite a handful of films to participate. Dana McIntyre aka Dana Crypto with her new animated short “Welcome Home” may be about to change that. “I had the idea to create an animated short film that would capture the human mind and make the viewer smile while pausing to think,” he explained.

“Welcome Home” begins by illustrating a bond between a parent and their children with a surprise twist at the end that can be both overwhelming and inspiring. “The rewards and recognition are nice,” explained Mr. Crypto, as he is professionally known. “But the real reward for me is when someone walks away and still thinks about the message the next day, which is why I made this movie.”

“Welcome Home” has been screened at (28) festivals around the world so far and has an acceptance rate of over 50% far exceeding the industry average. Nine of these festivals won awards ranging from Best Animated Short, Best Original Song, and Best Principal Director.

The Film Festival season has only just begun and will run through the fall and winter. There are still over 100 additional festivals taking “Welcome Home” into consideration, including some of the best Oscar qualifying festivals. “I didn’t expect this film to go to an Oscar qualifying festival, but I didn’t think it would be so widely accepted on the film festival circuit, so we’ll have to wait and see,” he said. explained Mr. Crypto.

(To avoid being a spoiler, the film’s main message appears after the role of the final credits.)

“Welcome Home” is well done and well thought out. Featuring music by musician and songwriter Brian Maes who wrote and performs the film’s original theme song, Superman, as well as the film’s original score. “I searched for the right song and the right artist for over a year and as soon as I heard Superman I knew we had a winner,” added Mr. Crypto.

“Welcome Home” was created on a budget of just $ 5,000, which is unheard of, even for a short film that hopes to compete on every level. Studios can spend a million dollars, hire a team of animators, and still have no guarantees of success. “When you have a powerful message and a small group of engaged people, this combination can change the world,” Crypto concluded.

“Welcome Home” can be seen at many upcoming film festivals throughout the summer and fall with a general release date to be determined.
