Number of investors owning Bitcoin has tripled since 2018: Gallup poll

A recent survey found that Bitcoin has gained traction with young American investors in terms of awareness, interest, and ownership over the past three years.

The study by global analyst and consultancy firm Gallup found that the number of investors in US BTC ownership fell from 2% in 2018 to 6% in June 2021. The research defines the investors like adults with $ 10,000 or more invested in stocks. , bonds or mutual funds.

He also reported that Bitcoin ownership among surveyed investors under the age of 50 has more than tripled over the past three years to 13% from 3% in 2018. At 6%, Bitcoin ownership is more like gold, which 11% of investors say they own.

The survey results come from the Gallup Investor Optimism Index survey conducted between June 22 and 29, 2021 among 1,037 US investors aged 18 and over. The study sample was weighted to be demographically representative of the US adult population with a maximum margin of sampling error of 5%.

Further results reveal that the perception of risk associated with Bitcoin declined over the three-year period. Almost all of the investors surveyed perceived BTC as a risky investment, however, the percentage rating it as very risky increased from 75% to 60%. Most of the remaining 35% now see it as somewhat risky, while only 5% think it is risk-free.

Gallup concluded that large investments in Bitcoin by well-known companies such as Tesla, Square and Morgan Stanley could give it greater credibility.

A similar survey of institutional investors in May and June found that more than 80% of hedge fund executives and wealth managers surveyed who already own crypto assets intend to increase their holdings.
