Bitcoin mining becomes much more decentralized in 2021

Bitcoin (BTC) has become considerably more decentralized over the past year, one measure suggests and the trend is growing.

According to data from the Blockchain on-chain data resource, the hash rate distribution increasingly favors unknown little miners.

Little guys increase the share of the mining pie

Although the past twelve months have seen a steep rise in prices, Bitcoin miners have not become more than corporate mining.

As for the hash rate distribution, the trend has been evident since the March 2020 crash, and this year has accelerated.

The pullback from all-time highs of $ 64,500 precipitated the move towards smaller players, which one would expect from a falling hash rate tempting them to mine.

As Cointelegraph reported, the hash rate has stabilized over the past two weeks and has started to make up lost ground.

Analysis of the revenues collected by the mining community as a whole underscores the ongoing recovery, giving hope for a resumption of the uptrend that characterized the hash rate through May.

At the time of writing, the hash rate totaled around 95 exahashs per second (EH / s), up from the low of 83 EH / s.

Future changes among miners seem to focus on the larger players, however, who, following the Chinese rout, are gaining strength in the United States and elsewhere.

A series of announcements this month, including a mining company planning to go public in the United States, combine with news that the industry’s environmental benchmarks are changing rapidly.

Also saw a lot more disclosures from miners, 32% of the hash rate joined a board, Bitcoin Mining Council, and they now produce quarterly disclosures, and in this sample the miners were at 67% power. renewable or nuclear, Nic Carter, co-founder of CoinShares, told CNBC on Wednesday.

So the miners who disclose and many of them are western miners who are exposed to western capital markets are disproportionately sustainable in their operations.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has hinted that Tesla may resume accepting Bitcoin for payments in the coming months depending on these environmental changes.
