HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)-Donald Wells, the father of missing Hawkins County 5-year-old Summer Wells, said in a podcast that his sons were removed from the Wells family home.
Jennifer Youngblood, host of the podcast “Jay is 4 Justice,” told News Channel 11 on Monday that Don Wells joined her on the show over the weekend. Speaking with Wells, Youngblood said he confirmed that Child Services was involved in the case.

On Wednesday, July 21, a Department of Child Services spokesman confirmed to News Channel 11 that the department was involved in the Summer Wells investigation. DCS did not confirm at the time whether Summer’s siblings were removed from the home.
While in Jay’s 4 Justice, Donald Wells told Youngblood that his sons had been taken from the house a few days before.
“Right now, with all the attacks on us and all the things going on, maybe it’s better for them,” Wells said on the show.

Youngblood asked Wells if the children were removed for their safety, but Wells said there was more to it. In the interview, Wells said theories and speculations about Summer’s disappearance are affecting her.
“They came up to me and said – either posing – said they had an internal scoop on TBI and they knew I sold my daughter for drugs, and I turned around. I flipped out,” Wells said. on the podcast. ”I believe in that thing. Like an idiot, I believed and flipped out, started drinking and everything else. And that’s why they took our kids. “

“I can tell when he answered the phone it was like he broke up with me,” Youngblood said. “He’s not like the Don Wells I talked to last week. He doesn’t look hopeful. He seems very depressed and confirmed that the boys had in fact taken a few days before.”

Youngblood said he has no interest in talking to anyone other than parents on his show to avoid conflicting information from the public.
“Don didn’t stray from his original story,” Youngblood said. “The only thing that stood out to me was the statement he made that he took the boys to work that morning with him and dropped them off when Candus told the friend they were at home cleaning. So, that’s something that doesn’t exist. my chance to ask Don. ”
Mother of Summer Wells is responding to social media backlash, gossip
Youngblood told News Channel 11 that at this stage of the investigation, it’s time to focus on getting home safely in the Summer.
“It’s not facts about any gossip or drama that people have with Candus or Don at this point,” Youngblood said. “I think it’s completely unproductive. And I think we have to keep the focus on a five -year -old little girl who is missing, and there are also three boys who are missing their sister.”
News Channel 11 reached out to Candus Bly and Donald Wells regarding their other children. As of Monday, they had not responded.

Summer Wells was first reported missing on June 15, and a statewide AMBER Alert was issued the next day. Since then, investigators have been searching for Summer.
