Donald L. Jackson, 93, passed away at 12:01 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, in Brookings, Oregon. Almost 6 years to the day after the love of her live, Louise June Jackson.

He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 21, 1927. He grew up during the Great Depression and began working as a boy to help put food on the family table. After working some of his teenage years, he decided to join the U.S. Coast Guard where he served 3 years and received the WWII Victory Medal. Until the end of his service, he was stationed in Seattle. That’s where he met his future wife, June Jackson, and they love to dance and do the jitterbug together.

They married on June 13, 1952. Don worked many jobs, mostly in sales, but his most important priority was taking care of his family. His wife and two children, Frank Jackson and Barbara Hewitt (Jackson) are all he cared for and loved in life.

The second passion in life is golf. June encouraged him to play golf every weekend. He has had 3 holes in 1 in his life and many times he has shot under his age! On his 93rd birthday, he played 4 holes and wished he could play more. Don is an avid golfer and enjoys outdoor sports. Fishing and boating are also on his list.

Don is a wonderful person who loves Christ. Most of his life he nurtured in June, he was a good man and only loved his wife and family. Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, grandfather, great -grandson and friend.

He has lived in various places over the years including Honolulu, Portland, Seattle, Hacienda Heights, Redding and retired to Brookings.

Ahead of death, his loving wife, June Jackson and his son Frank Jackson. He is survived by his loving daughter, Barbara Hewitt and husband John Hewitt of Alta Loma, CA; grandchildren Lisa Patton and wife Steve, Lori Neilssien and husband Mark, Joni Moorefield and wife Larry, Arika Jackson; grandchildren Johnny Hewitt and Sneha, Chadd Marchese; 11 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; Brothers Harold and Sandy Jackson and many dear nieces and nephews.
