December 21, 1935 – August 2, 2021 (age 85)
SHARON – Robert Donald “Bob” Anderson, 85, passed away Monday (Aug. 2) at the UPMC Jameson Care Center, New Castle.
Mr. Anderson was born December 21, 1935, in Sharon, a son of Robert V. and Eunice Helen (Baker) Anderson.
He graduated in 1954 from Sharon High School.
He earned an associate degree in mechanical engineering from the former Chicago Technical College.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army where he served in the engineering battalion, rebuilding bridges following WWII.
He works as a mechanical engineer at the former Fessler Machine Co., Sharon.
A colorful man, Bob has a lot of talent. He has a private pilot’s license and is on the Civil Air Patrol.
He is also an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys camping, hunting and fishing.
He will be remembered for always catching the biggest fish anyone has ever seen.
Bob had a heart of gold and loved everyone he met. She is known for her great storytelling ability and her deep love for her family.
His wife, former Barbara Ann Ehrhart, whom he married on July 14, 1956, passed away on March 30, 2016.
He is survived by children Cynthia Leyde of Sharon and Tamara (Joel) Kitch of Sharon; son of Robert Anderson of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and Scott (Emma) Anderson of North Carolina; grandchildren David (Nikki) Leyde, Patrick (Brittney) Leyde, Erin (Joseph) Hassan, Grace (Wes) Anderson, Ellen (Derek) Mechling, Zachery (Chloe) Anderson, Hannah (Cody) Anderson, Joshua (Harlee) Anderson, Madison Anderson, Josephine Compeau, Alex Compeau, Ian (Rachel) Cione, Nathan Cione and Ava Kitch; great -grandchildren Emily Leyde, Jenna Leyde, Maggie Leyde, Joey Hassan, Sammy Hassan, Maddie Morosky and Theodore Mechling; and a sister, Shirley Werner and her significant other, Bert Shaw of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded by the death of a sister, Louvetta Reda.
The family proposes memorial memorials to be directed to the Pittsburgh Foundation Children’s Hospital, PO Box 535240, Pittsburgh Pa. 15253-9926.
Calling hours will be held Saturday (Aug. 7) from 2 to 4 p.m. at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. The St. Louis State Service. Funeral will begin at 4 p.m., with Rev. C. Charles Eckles oversees. Military awards will be given by Wheatland, Farrell and West Middlesex Honor Guard.
