Trump-world reaffirms support for Murkowski challenge as Palin slams Senate run

But a bid to Palin could be complicated by pushing Trumps to overthrow Murkowski by splitting the votes of opponents against him.

In his fundraising appeal, Donald Trump, Jr. is focused solely on Tshibaka, praising him as the real deal and an America First Conservative that is exactly the kind of leadership that Alaska and our country desperately NEED!

I will not tell you how important this election is. This is our chance to make sure Alaska has a true Conservative who represents them in the United States Senate and not a swampy DC Insider like Lisa Murkowski, Donald Trump, Jr. writes the message.

The old Trump promoted Tshibaka in June and he vowed to go to Alaska to campaign against Murkowski, whom he considered dishonest.

Tshibaka also signed with a group of top campaign presidents to push for his bid, and he won the support of the Alaska Republican Party State Central Committee, a nod that was part of the broader national conservative reaction against the Republicans who supported Trump’s impeachment. The Republican Party state also censored Murkowski.

Palin served as governor from 2006 to 2009. After an unsuccessful career in 2008, he weighed in on a 2012 presidential bid but eventually decided against it. He supported Trump in the 2016 GOP mainstream, bolstering him in his desire to win the party’s nomination. Given their close alignment with the past, Trumps support for another candidate could deny Palin a clear line in the Senate career if he chooses to enter.

But regardless of Palin’s entry into the career or not, unseating Murkowski won’t be an easy endeavor.

Murkowski, who entered the Senate in 2002 and is the son of former senator and governor Frank Murkowski, could benefit from a newly implemented voting system: Instead of competing for the Republican primary nomination, he will run in a primary party of the whole party, of which the top four finishers will advance to the general election.

That means Murkowski will not face the pressure of a closed major Republican, as he faced in 2010, when he lost the nomination to a conservative, Tea Party -aligned candidate, Joe Miller. Murkowski will go on to win re -election that year as a writing candidate, defeating both Miller and the Democratic nominee in the general election.
