Donald Trump’s reaction to Dallas Jones ’purchase of the Dallas Cowboys has once again gone viral on social media following Forbes’ list of the NFL’s most important franchises.

Back in 1984, Donald Trump had the opportunity to buy the Dallas Cowboys for $ 50 million – yes, you read that right. Instead, the former U.S. president decided to buy the USFL’s New Jersey Generals for $ 10 million.

“I feel sorry for the poor guy who would buy the Dallas Cowboys,” Trump said. “It’s a win -win situation for him, because if he wins, alas, so what, they’ve won over the years, and if he loses, which is probably because they’re in trouble, the world will recognize him as a loser.”

Trump added: “I could buy an NFL club for $ 40 million or $ 50 million, but it’s established and you’ll only see it move later. It’s not enough to create there.”

A few years later, Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys for $ 140 million. Decades later, Team America is worth more than $ 6 billion.

Forbes named the Cowboys the most important franchise in the NFL at $ 6.5 billion.

Fans are now wondering what would have been if Trump had bought the Cowboys in the 1980s.

“Yeah but he would have screwed them up worse than Jerry, and they never traded Herschel Walker for all the picks that led them to 90s glory and a higher valuation,” a fan tweeted.

“I feel sorry too. The dude who bought it in ’84 had to sell it 5 years ago during the Savings and Loan Crisis. Then Jerry Jones bought it in ’89,” added another fans.

“I’m under the impression that other owners have to vote to allow you into a ownership role. Did they vote to approve him as the owner?” One fan wondered.

Donald Trump, owner of the NFL, is certainly interesting to follow. It’s also fair to think about whether he would pursue a career in politics if he owned an established NFL team.

Alas, Jerry Jones still owns the Cowboys and will continue to reap the benefits.
