Donald H. ‘Don’ Ward
WILLIAMSBURG – Donald H. Ward, 90, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born January 11, 1931, in Whitehall, New York, the son of the late Darwin A. Ward and Doris H. Ward.
Don graduated from Cornell University. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Ithaca, New York, and moved to Virginia Beach for year -round golf. Don is a member of Owl’s Creek Golf Course, golfing five days a week and is proud of his 10 hole-in-one. Don enjoyed league bowling with the Sassy Seniors and Golden Oldies at Pinboy’s Bowling Center. Don is an avid reader, an avid card player who is always ready for a game of pinochle.
Don was preceded by the death of his wife Beatrice F. Ward.
He is survived by his sister Beverly W. Osgood; son, Daniel G. Ward; and daughters, Donna W. Hauck, and son -in -law, Steven B. Hauck, Patricia A. Randolph and Deborah S. Ward, and his wife Marie J. Murray. Don has many grandchildren, Jessica Gibson, Kristen Bay, Daniel Hauck, Lydia Ward, Melissa O’Brien and Michael Randolph; and great -grandchildren, Amanda Gibson, Julia Gibson, Rebecca Gibson Brody Bay, Austin Bay, Hudson Hauck, Harper Hauck, Ellie O’Brien, Piper O’Brien and Robert “Knox” O’Brien.
The celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Virginia Beach. Don will be bedridden with his beloved wife, Irene Rossi.
