MSNBC Host Mock Trump Supporters as ‘Reinstatement Day’ Passes Biden Who Is In WH

MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan targeted Donald Trump supporters who believe the former president will be reinstated on Aug. 13, saying they should be “surprised” that President Joe Biden remains in the White House.

Hasan, who fills in for MSNBC co -host Chris Hayes, mocked the bizarre conspiracy theory, as well as its chief proponent, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, in a portion of Friday night. The MSNBC host explained that Lindell and other allies of the former president set Aug. 13 as the date when Trump will return as president, citing baseless allegations of widespread election fraud in 2020.

“For most of you, the importance today probably won’t go beyond a hot summer Friday. But for 1-in-3 Republicans who believe Donald Trump can be installed as their rightful president, today is a very significant day, ”Hasan said.

“It’s a day of restoration,” the MSNBC host explained.

Hasan said the conspiracy theory that Trump would return to the White House was largely driven by Lindell and his baseless claim that the 2020 election was “hacked” or “stolen” in favor of Biden of China.

“It’s past 8pm East on August 13th and you’ll be surprised to hear that Joe Biden is still the president of the United States,” Hasan said.

“Now, one can laugh at this madness, but dangerous madness,” he warned, saying it was a “dangerous moment” for American democracy. “A man selling pillows on cable television has convinced tens of millions of Americans that a safe, secure, democratic election has been stolen.”

Trump and his allies continue to falsely claim that Biden won the presidential election through widespread fraud. This extraordinary claim has been litigated thoroughly in state and federal courts. This is wholling discredited, but polls have always shown that a large number of GOP voters believe lies and misinformation.

A Morning Consult and Politico poll in June showed that nearly 30 percent of Republican voters believe it is “likely” or “relatively likely” to return Trump as president before the end of 2021. A separate Monmouth University poll from June found that nearly one-third (32 percent) of Americans believe Biden won the 2020 election because of fraud. That vote showed that 63 percent of Republican voters and leaning GOP said Biden was not legitimately elected.

Despite the widespread belief of many Trump supporters, no evidence has emerged or been delivered proving the extraordinary allegation. Dozens of election challenge lawsuits filed by Trump and his allies have failed in state and federal courts. Even judges appointed by Trump and other Republicans have rejected the challenges.

Reports and audits in major battlefield states-including areas where pro-Trump Republicans controlled the election-reaffirmed Biden’s victory.

Former U.S. Attorney William Barr, widely viewed as one of Trump’s most loyal members of the Cabinet, said in December that there was no “evidence” to support the widespread fraud claims behind his win. Biden.

In addition, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency with the Department of Homeland Security described the 2020 election as “the safest in American history.” The agency, led by a Trump nominee at the time, insisted that “there is no evidence that any voting system has removed or lost votes, altered votes, or in any way been compromised.”
