Even in the cases of various Delta, hospitals and deaths are hitting levels not seen in months, along with concerns that the Fed will slow asset purchases next year, the The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed at record highs on Friday. By President Trumps ’favorite measure of success, President Bidens after the election and inauguration of stock market gains beat Trumps the equivalent of a nine -month comeback. The stock market did not crash under Biden as Trump predicted as seen in the debate video.
All three major indices, the Dow 30 Industrials, S&P 500 and the NASDAQ generated higher percentage increases from their respective election days until late August. Included in the outperformance of Bidens from election day on Nov. 3 and on the Friday after the election because the race was not called until the weekend. Bidens ’return also defeated the Trumps from Jan. 19, a day before they were inaugurated.
With returns from the time the election was called in favor of Bidens until late August compared to when Trump was called the winner in the same timeframe the Dow, S&P 500 and the NASDAQ rose 6.2%, 14.3% and 6.5% more yet under Biden, respectively.
Bidens Dow has been a solid outperformer compared to Trump
On Tuesday of 2016 the election was held between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton the Dow 30 Industrials closed at 18,333. The Index responded positively to Trumps victory, which he called the same night, and continued to rise until early August but ended a few weeks later.

On Tuesday’s election between Trump and Biden the Index closed at 28,323. It also increased over the next three days that Biden took the lead but it hasn’t been called yet. However, on Monday after the election it was called that the index had been papped upwards and continued to rise except for some sharp downturn that quickly reversed. Bidens ’return has been better by 6.2% since the election was called and 4.1% since he was inaugurated.

The S&P 500 is Bidens biggest performance compared to Trump
Trump saw a smaller gain in the S&P 500 compared to the Dow 30. It rose 14.2% from his election day and 7.9% from his inauguration until late August 2017.

Between the Bidens election and last Friday the S&P 500 return was better than the Dows. Bidens ’market return is again significantly above Trumps’ 14.3% since the election was called and 10.8% since his inauguration.

The NASDAQ is Trump’s best Index but still caught up with Bidens
The post-election to late August timeframe saw the NASDAQ with the highest performing Index for Trump, coming in at 20.6%, still short of Bidens 27.2%.
