175 YEARS. 100 KWENTO.

Donald Goerke has been known as “Daddy-O of SpaghettiO’s,” for his role in developing clean, canned pasta for the Campbell Soup Company. But, this is far from his unique achievement in the food business.

Goerke joined Campbell in 1955 after working as a market researcher for Blatz Brewery in Milwaukee. A market analyst, he helped bring many products to American grocery stores and dinner tables. SpaghettiO’s, the small, round pre-cooked pasta in a can, became a child’s staple after its introduction. Goerke followed that success with the Chunky Soup line, introduced in the late 1960s. It moved the company, known until then for its condensed soups, into the ready -to -serve market, greatly expanding the business. . By 1990, the two products were responsible for more than $ 500 million in annual sales.

The company puts the final number of products developed and marketed by Goerke at more than 100. After his official retirement in 1990, he continued to consult for the food giant, and became a good ambassador for the company, appearing in Super Bowls, golf tournaments and Miss America tournaments, among other events.
