Ann Coulter praises Biden for ‘Keeping Promise Made But Abandoned’ in Leaving Afghanistan

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter praised Second Democrat Joe Biden for “keeping a promise Trump made, but then abandoned when he came to office” regarding the withdrawal of U.S. military troops from in Afghanistan.

“Thank you, President Biden, for keeping the promise Trump made, but then abandoned when he came to office,” Coulter wrote in a tweet published Tuesday afternoon.

“Trump has repeatedly demanded that we take our soldiers home, but only President Biden has the balls to do so,” Coulter wrote in a follow-up tweet. He then included screenshots of what he called “some of Trump’s wuss, BS – I mean“ masterful ” – tweets”.

The three Trump tweets he shared he published between October 2019 and October 2020. Of all three, he said the U.S. should “return our soldiers to their homes.”

“We are acting as a police force, not the fighting force that we are, in Afghanistan,” Trump wrote in a tweet on May 27, 2020. “After 19 years, it’s time for them to police their own Country. Bring our soldiers home but keep a close eye on what is happening and strike with thunder like never before, if necessary! “

Before and during his 2016 campaign for president, Trump criticized the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan.

As early as 2011, he called Afghanistan’s job “a complete waste,” adding, “Time to go home!”

On January 14, 2013, he tweeted, “I agree with Pres. Obama on Afghanistan. We should have a quick retreat. Why do we continue to waste our money-rebuild the US!”

He continues to speak out against U.S. troop engagement in Afghanistan during his presidential candidacy. Then, in 2020, the Trump Administration met with Taliban forces to establish a withdrawal deadline of May 1, 2021 for U.S. troops.

Since Trump set a deadline to step down during the last presidential election in 2020, he ran the risk of taking place under a different presidential administration. That risk occurred after he lost the 2020 election by more than 7 million votes.

Since then Trump has repeatedly criticized Biden for stepping down. Trump said that should be “conditional.” He also said the Biden administration offered “zero resistance” to the Taliban after Biden became president.

On Aug. 14, Biden criticized Trump’s deal saying it “left the Taliban in the strongest military position since 2001.”

“I face a choice – follow the agreement, with a brief extension to safely release our forces and the forces of our allies, or strengthen our presence and send more American troops to fight the conflict again. civil abroad, ”Biden said.

On Aug. 16, Trump’s personal website deleted the April 18 statement from Trump declaring, “Leaving Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do.”

Biden oversaw the evacuation of U.S. forces and allies in advance of the newly established withdrawal deadline of Aug. 31. Throughout the retreat, lawmakers slammed him for not expecting a quick return to Taliban power, for cooperating with the Taliban and for not doing enough to ensure the safe and timely evacuation of all.

The Biden Administration has since said there are still less than 200 Americans in Afghanistan seeking to leave the country. It is unclear how many Afghanistan -born allies in the US were left inside the country despite the desire to flee.

Former Trump security adviser John Bolton said on Aug. 18, “While Biden is responsible for strengthening enforcement, I have no confidence that Trump has executed it more competently.”

Coulter is a right pundit. In the past, he has endorsed the use of U.S. military torture, made jokes about rape allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and supported the federal criminalization of abortion. However, he also fought against former President Donald Trump in 2019 for what he saw as a lack of action on immigration policy.
