The survey, by Emerson College Polling, described the results as slightly favoring Mr. Trump. Those who said they would vote for the former President of the United States polled 47 percent, while those who said they would vote for Mr. Biden polled 46 percent. The poll found that 60 percent of U.S. Democrats who participated said they would like to see Mr. Biden as a nominee for the presidency in 2024.

A total of 39 percent of Democrat participants in the polls said they would prefer to have another presidential candidate for the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, 67 percent of Republican participants said they would vote for Mr. Trump as their nominee for the presidency in 2024.

Much of the swing towards Mr. Trump has been attributed to Mr Biden’s lowering of approval rating in the wake of the country’s departure from Afghanistan.

A total of 49 percent of voters said George W Bush should be held accountable for the war in Afghanistan.

The sample in the poll sampled 1,000 U.S. adults and 60 percent of individuals said they did not accept the president’s actions in Afghanistan.

According to an NBC News poll, the president’s overall approval rating has plummeted from 53 percent to 49 percent.

The news came when the president of the United States was warned by the former leader of the Ulster Unionist Party about his support for the Northern Ireland Protocol.

David Trimble in a letter to the President of the United States described Mr Biden’s support for the protocol as having the potential to lead to “civil unrest” in Northern Ireland.

In his letter, the former leader of the Ulster Unionists wrote: “The Northern Ireland Protocol has not only changed the key precautions within the Belfast Agreement causing civil unrest and political uncertainty, but also detrimental to Northern Ireland’s economy disrupting supply chains, raising prices and shifting trade from our main market to Great Britain.

“At the heart of the Belfast Agreement is consent.

“This means there will be no change in NI’s constitutional position as part of the UK without the consent of a majority of the people of the country.”
