RAVENSWOOD – Donald Wiseman has been appointed CEO of Star Plastics, following the company’s acquisition of Akoya Capital Partners.

With more than 25 years of experience, Wiseman holds top -level leadership roles at PolyOne, Cabot Microelectronics, Americahem and Rohm and Haas and has advised numerous private equity transactions totaling $ 1 billion. At PolyOne, Wiseman managed 11 global plants and 1,500 people, increased sales and generated leading line and revenue growth as business president of service products and service solutions, according to a release from Star.

Most recently, Wiseman served as interim COO and board member for GreenMantra, where he implemented best operational practices and became a leadership instrument in the company’s growth.

“Don’s leadership skills, commercial and operational experience and success in delivering exceptional growth will make a valuable addition to the Star Plastics team,” said board Chairman Bob May.

Wiseman is followed by Star Plastics founder Doug Ritchie, who will become the company’s chief strategy officer.

“Don understands our culture and will run the ground running – his experience will be a huge advantage to bring Star closer to our growth goals,” Ritchie said.

Wiseman holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Youngstown State University, a master’s in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina and a master of business administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Ritchie has held the position of CEO since he founded Star Plastics in 1988, where he grew the business from a contract recycling company to a provider of custom-engineered compounds and specialty materials.
