Video of Trump Saying Today He Had the Tallest Manhattan Building on 9/11 Goes Viral on Anniversary

A video of former President Donald Trump’s unusual first reaction to the terrorist attacks since September 11, 2001, has gone viral on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy.

As Trump made surprise trips to police and fire stations in New York City on Saturday, a revived short clip of him calling the station WWOR-TV on the day of the terrorist attacks two decades ago that ago garnered significant attention on Twitter.

“It was an amazing phone call. 40 Wall Street is actually the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan and it was, even before the World Trade Center, the tallest. And when they built the World Trade Center it was recognized as the second highest and now it’s the highest, ”the future president told WWOR at the time.

The video has been viewed more than 231,000 times since it was shared by former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy on Saturday morning.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed after two hijacked commercial planes crashed at the World Trade Center in New York City, one at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a fourth on a farm in rural Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 20 years ago last year. Trump did not join other former presidents, including Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, in attending the memorial event in New York, which included a performance by Bruce Springsteen. But Trump stopped by to greet first responders at a Manhattan police department and a New York City Fire Department station.

In a video released Saturday, Trump commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attack and praised the first responders-before quickly squeezing into the attack on President Joe Biden’s handling of the troop retreat of the US from Afghanistan.

“Our nation’s leader was made to look stupid, and it will never be allowed to happen,” Trump said of the chaotic exit he helped to negotiate, blaming “poor planning, incredible weaknesses, and leaders who really don’t understand what’s going on. ”

“This is the 20th year of this war and should be a year of victory and honor and strength,” the former president added. “Instead, Joe Biden and his incompetent administration surrendered to defeat.”

Biden marked the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attack with visits to three sites where the planes crashed, starting with where the original World Trade Center stood in New York City. He then visited Shanksville, Pennsylvania, before traveling to the Pentagon in Arlington.
