Former US President Donald Trump took the opportunity to face the main winner at the Triller Fight Club Legends II event on Saturday.
Shortly after former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort did a quick job of boxing legend Evander Holyfield in their main fight at the event, Trump, who was in second commentary role for the event, spoke to the arrested audience at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.
Trump was joined at the commentary booth by his son Donald Trump Jr., former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos, and welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal.
You’re some fighter, Trump said. I have to tell you, you had some friends between Jorge and Junior, and my son, my junior, they said that would do surprisingly well I said, Good, but boxing is not his. Junior said, Yeah, you’re just a spectator. ‘
The former heavyweight champ proved the former president was right in his prediction, while Belfort did Holyfield’s quick work by scoring a quick first-round TKO.
Before the fight in an interview that took place just seconds before he entered the ring, Belfort ended his remarks on the tagline of Trump’s presidential campaign, Let’s Rebuild America!
The former president appreciated Belforts ’message, as did the vast majority of those in attendance who shouted Trump’s name throughout the night. You are a great patriot and we appreciate it, Trump added when speaking to Belfort.
Vitor, your stock is very high, but even higher tonight because you defeated someone who, I don’t know, I think is probably one of the greatest of all time, Trump went on. There is no question about Evander and we love Evander. I know Evander, and I have never seen that happen to Evander. I’ve been with Evander for a long time and it’s just one of those things, you’re really very good.
Trump also briefly suggested the idea of creating a fight between Masvidal or Dos Santos as Belforts next opponent within the boxing ring, but it turns out that Triller wanted to create a fight between Belfort and Jake Paul. instead.
