The story begins in Lynchburg, Virginia, known as the City of Seven Hills. Every hiding in this collection is drawn from small farms that, like Moore & Giles, have called Virginia home for decades. Moore & Giles has partnered with Seven Hills abattoir, a local processor that provides premium beef to restaurants throughout Virginia, to rethink their byproduct as an unrealized asset. Originally destined for a landfill, the skins were instead brought to St. Louis. Louis, where they were modified into Hermann Oak Leather in the same vats and vegetable tannage used to blend the harnesses provided on wagon trains moving westward since 1881. quality and attractive of the collection is matched by the preservation and singularity of this locally donated leather.
