While visiting New York City to honor the twentieth anniversary of Sept. 11, Trump, who obviously has deep roots in the city, was asked about whether he would consider a bid for mayor of the Big Apple, a position currently held by Bill de Blasio (via NYC.gov and Yahoo!). It’s important to note that de Blasio isn’t satisfied with the very high approval ratings so far, which could be a result of rising crime in the city though, experts said violence levels could be declining (via NY1 at The New York Times).
Regarding a potential run for the city mayor who isn’t sleeping, Trump told reporters, “Well, that’s an interesting question.” He went on to say, “I like that. We can straighten it out. I’ll say, ‘Fellas, good luck, go to town.’ They will declare in a week, ‘There is no crime in this city.’ “
Meanwhile, according to Ballotpedia, de Blasio will not run again in November of this year due to term limit limitations. At this time, the top contenders were Democrat Eric Adams and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
