NEW YORK (AP) A judge has denied a request by lawyers for former President Donald Trump to delay the resumption of a lawsuit pending trial while an appeals court decides whether the United States can be replaced as defendant. A Manhattan federal judge issued a denial Wednesday of the lawsuit request filed by columnist E. Jean Carroll. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is set to hear arguments this year on whether Trump can be replaced as defendant. The U.S. Department of Justice has insisted that Trump cannot be personally responsible for what was said about Carroll because he was president at the time. Carroll accused Trump of rape.
