MIDDLEFIELD Dennis Donald Freitag, 75, of Middlefield, passed away sadly on Sept. 17, 2021, at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

He was born in Waukegan, Ill., To the late Raymond and Elenore (nee Luby) Freitag on April 12, 1946.

Dennis is the loving wife of Paula Harrington Freitag, to whom he has been married for 19 beautiful years.

Dennis is a retired U.S. Army veteran, as a First Sergeant for 36 years.

He was a member of the International Law Team, traveled the world during his time in the Army, loved gardening and beautiful flowers, fishing at his beloved pond and his family. Small children and small animals draw him because of his essence of gentleness and protection.

Dennis is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Paula (nee Harrington) Freitag, two children Darren Freitag and David Freitag; daughter, Darcy; stepson, Alex (Bonnie) Stanton; siblings, Gerry Freitag, Darrel Freitag, Ron (Margot) Freitag, Dean Freitag, Bill Freitag; sister -in -law, Vicki (Jerry) McCalmont, Ruth (George) Womack; brother -in -law, Dave (Becky) Harrington; in -laws, Richard and Helen Harrington; six grandchildren; many nephews; and many family and friends.

Viewing is Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, from 12-2 p.m., at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield. The honorable military and funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

A private funeral will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman the other day. (Masks will be required per family request.)
