Donald Trump sued The New York Times and his estranged nephew, accusing them of a destructive scheme to obtain confidential records about his tax history.
The lawsuit, which seeks $ 100 million as damages, alleges the newspaper encouraged Mary Trump, 56, to smuggle notes about her uncles ‘finances out of her lawyers’ office and give them to reporter.
The paper and the three journalists involved David Barstow, Susanne Craig and Russ Buettner won the 2019 Pulitzer prize in explanatory reporting for an 18-month investigation that culminated in the article.
It claims to disclose decades of suspected tax dodges and numerous instances of outright fraud committed by Trump that allowed him to receive more than $ 413 million from his father, Fred Trump
