Donald Trump vowed to prevent the GOP from raising money for Rep. John Katko

Washington’s Donald Trump told a radio host Thursday that hell is working to prevent House Republicans from raising money for Rep. John Katko and other GOP members of Congress voted to impeach him.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthys joint fundraising committee transferred more than $ 100,000 to the Katkos campaign account this year, Federal Election Commission records show.

Katko, R-Camillus, is one of dozens of House Republicans McCarthy supports through his leadership committee, Take Back the House 2022.

Trump, in an interview with The John Fredericks Radio Show, vowed to make sure Katko and four other House Republicans who voted for impeachment were cut off from future financial support from the McCarthys committee.

I’ll see who funds him, Trump said of McCarthy, and if he does, I’ll stop the whole deal. I will stop it.

Katko, R-Camillus, was among 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Katko, who was asked about Trump last week, said he should no longer be considered the leader of the Republican Party. The four -term congressman also said he would not be afraid of the former president.

The McCarthys joint fund committee supported five of the 10 Republicans who voted for impeachment. In addition to Katko, the others are GOP Reps. Peter Meijer of Michigan, David Valadao of California, Fred Upton of Michigan and Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington.

All but one Katko in New York, he’s not famous, and I think hell has been districted but there’s a core for each of them, Trump told Fredericks.

What Trump is referring to is the fact that no major Republican opponent of Katko has emerged in Onondaga County, where Katko lives.

The New York Independent Redistricting Commission last week unveiled two partisan plans to establish new boundaries for the Katkos district.

The Democrat’s plan is to merge parts of the Katkos 24th Congressional District with the GOP Rep. Claudia Tenney in the neighboring 22nd District. Trump has promised to support Tenney if he faces Katko in a major election.

Trump also urged Onondaga County Conservative Party leaders to have a candidate to oppose Katko next year in a potential major.

Katko is a deputy head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, the fundraising arm for House Republicans. He has received financial support from the NRCC in each of his previous campaigns.
