Former President Donald Trump is reported to have long been obsessed with the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans specifically, his place here. So, he’s probably not happy with the latest iteration of it that isn’t really with him.
This is the first time in 25 years that Trump has not made the annual list, which debuted in 1982.
Forbes reported that while the former president, ranked No. 339 in 2020, is worth an estimated $ 2.5 billion, “he has dropped $ 600 million since the pandemic began.”
The magazine said that while many sectors have thrived as a result of COVID-19, “the large-owned cities that make up the majority of Trump’s wealth have been disappointed.”
The following year, Trump nemesis Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon that flew into space aboard his company’s Blue Origin rocket this year, topped the list, with an estimated net worth of $ 201 billion. Another pioneer in the space, Elon Musk, runs with $ 190.5 billion nearly three times his net wealth a year ago, largely in the increased market value of his auto and alternative energy company, the Tesla. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is in third, and Bill Gates, former CEO of Microsoft, is in No. 4.
As for Trump, if the past is any example, he probably doesn’t pay much attention to the news that he’s not on the popular list.
In 1985, “Trump invented a fake persona to lie about transferring wealth from his father,” according to Forbes. “Forbes fell into that ruse of taking Fred Trump off the list and listing Donald alone. But five years later, we published an explosive story, which discovered the problem of making beer inside Trump’s empire, ”the magazine said.
Beginning in 1996, Trump took the 400 spot and remained there for 25 years. However, Forbes said, “things have gotten worse with the person he won the presidency. After five years of falling in the rankings, he’s no longer on the list.”
But the magazine said it shouldn’t be that way. Senior editor Dan Alexander wrote: “If Trump is looking for anyone to blame, he can start with himself. Five years ago, he had a golden opportunity to diversify his wealth. Before yet the 2016 election, federal ethics officials are forcing Trump to dispose of his real estate assets. That would have allowed him to re-pour the proceeds into broad-based index funds and enter the office without conflicts of interest. ”
If, according to Forbes, Trump was “able to avoid capital-raising taxes” and instead took his $ 3.5 billion when he became president and reinvested it in the S&P 500, it would be worth approximately of $ 7 billion in September, keeping him comfortable on the No. 1 list. 133.
