Trump ‘Without Question’ Attempts to Overhaul Election System, Warns His Head of Ex-Cybersecurity

Christopher Krebs, Donald Trump’s ex-cybersecurity chief, said the former president was trying to change the electoral system in the United States.

“Without question. It’s happening at four different levels, both state legislatures and elected state officials, some of the people running for secretary of state in Arizona and Georgia,” he said in a release on CBS News’ Face the Nation Sunday. “But we also see [it] in the U.S. Congress. “

Krebs also said GOP leaders no longer have power over the party’s voter base.

“They [Republicans] activated and lost control of their voting basis, the people who would put them in power, ”he said.

According to Krebs, Republican leaders are reluctant to admit that President Joe Biden won the 2020 election for fear that “Trump will try to dominate them.”

In an interview Sunday with Fox News, anchor Chris Wallace asked Louisiana Republican Rep. Scalise to weigh Trump’s allegations of election fraud and whether he thinks the 2020 election was “stolen.” Scalise claimed that “a number of states” did not comply with the laws governing elections and they did not comply with the Constitution.

Newsweek contacted Trump representatives and Scalise’s office for comments but it was not heard back in time for publication.

In November 2020, Trump fired Krebs from his position at the Department of Homeland Security for speaking out against allegations of election fraud. At the time, Krebs described the election as “the safest in American history.”

A month later, Krebs sued Trump campaign lawyer Joe DiGenova for defamation and emotional distress. His lawsuit came after DiGenova called for his murder in an appearance on Newsmax in November. The lawyer at the time said Krebs “should be drawn up and quartered.”

In July, Krebs stressed that misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine was similar to around the 2020 presidential election.

“What we’re seeing here is an ecosystem of information purveyors. Some of them are politically motivated. Some of it is the anti-vax community. Some of it is making a profit. And I tend to believe that a lot is going on here , “he said then.
