Donald Paul Nowotny Jr., 75, of Chicago, formerly of Victor, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Donald was the son of Donald Paul and Catherine Helen (nee Reitzler) Nowotny.

BS, Landscape Architecture, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; The MBA, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Served with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and worked in architectural engineering before becoming 46th Ward Superintendent, City of Chicago, Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Beloved wife of Carl Wayne McDowell, Chicago; dear uncle of Kevin (Angela) Shepherd of Phoenix, Ariz., Karl (Cindi) Shepherd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kerry (Therese) Shepherd of Chandler, Ariz., Kathy Shepherd (Kevin) Nanke of Edmond, Okla., and Kelcy (Davin Flatten) Shepherd of Shrewsbury, Mass .; grandmother of five; great -grandson of three; former wife of Linda Augustine Nowotny of Victor, Iowa; and brothers -in -law of Thomas (Judy) Shepherd of Atkins, Iowa, and Richard (Shirley) Cole of Victor, Iowa.

Preceded in death by parents and siblings Dona Catherine Nowatny, Judith Ann Nowotny Shepherd and JoAnn Marie Nowotny Cole.
