Donald Trump Jr. asked. why this year’s Thanksgiving meal was reported to be the most expensive in holiday history, and it has been suggested that the Biden administration is to blame.
The eldest son of former President Donald Trump shared a tweet from The New York Times on Monday featuring an article about the cost of dinner and made reference to previous criticism of the administration in July.
The Times article did not mention President Joe Biden but featured ongoing supply chain problems and the rising cost of components.
The newspaper’s official account tweeted: “Thanksgiving 2021 is shaping up to be the most expensive meal in holiday history. Almost every ingredient, from turkey to coffee after dinner, is expected to be more expensive than ever.”
In response, Trump Jr. tweeted: “Wait what happened ???
“I was told, so holy, that we should be thankful to save $ .16 on my 4th of July BBQ that the government was so kind to allow me to have.”
What Trump Jr. is referring to. is a White House tweet and press release released ahead of the Fourth of July holiday that was widely ridiculed on social media for saying people would save 16 cents on their cookouts last year.

The White House tweeted on July 1: “Planning a cookout this year? Ketchup on the news. According to the Farm Bureau, the value of 4th of July BBQ has dropped since last year. It’s a fact you should hear (d ). Hot dog, Biden’s economic plan works. And that’s something we can be excited about. “
The tweet featured graphics about the reduced price of groceries including the price of a 13-ounce bag of potato chips down 1 percent and a three-pound portion of center cut pork chops down 2 percent.
The Times article shared by Trump Jr. on Monday noted that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for food rose 4.6 per cent over the previous year, while the value of poultry, fish, eggs and meat rose 10.5 per cent. The headline warns: “This Year’s Thanksgiving Feast Will Affect the Wallet.”
The Biden administration is trying to address supply chain problems including a backlog of cargo ships waiting to be unloaded at California ports. Biden announced a plan for the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to operate 24/7 two weeks ago, while those ports said Monday they would impose fines on companies for slow movement of containers.
