Donald Trump is definitely keeping an eye on Bay State. More precisely, in Gov. Charlie Baker.
The two Republicans are almost guaranteed not to exchange Christmas cards.
The 45th president alerted his followers by email Wednesday about a well-read ICYMI (In Case You Missed It) in the Boston Herald by City Hall reporter Sean Philip Cotter.
As I’m sure you’ve seen, the story tells about a State Police meat union with Baker because of coronavirus vaccine orders, in which the union attacks the government with claims that “under of cover of darkness ”Friday night the administration suddenly shot a dozen soldiers. ‘requests for medical exemption.
Some sidebar observations: SPAM (the State Police Association of Massachusetts) has some political power. And, Trump endorses GOP gubernatorial candidate Geoff Diehl.
Baker has not yet revealed if he is seeking a third term, but if he does he will face Diehl with a resurrected former president in his corner. Baker has to hope that the independents slip on the GOP ballot, or he is in the real run for his money.
But back to SPAM. The union is pushing to allow troopers who want to bypass the vax to be masked and tested as a compromise. So far, no dice from Baker’s camp. We will let you know.
Also, Diehl supports SPAM calling on the Baker administration to “stop punishing heroes who worked in the pandemic by terminating their jobs if they don’t follow vaccine orders.” He added, if elected, “he will restore the jobs of all those removed and end the mandates.”
The election season is alive and well.
Here’s a screengrab of that email blast…
